About Us
OUT Interiors is an independent home design publication covering interior design, decorating and home remodeling. We write for people working on their own homes — with a budget, a room that is the size it is, and a limited appetite for getting it wrong. Not styling for photographs. Design for rooms people actually live in.
What we publish
Room design. Living rooms, bedrooms, kitchens, bathrooms, entryways, home offices, and small spaces and apartments.
Design styles. Japandi, Scandinavian, farmhouse, coastal, boho, and quiet luxury—what actually defines each one, and how to apply it without turning a home into a theme.
Color and materials. Paint and color schemes, countertops, tile and flooring, wood, stone, and textiles. This is where most decisions are won or lost.
Home remodeling. Renovation planning, budgeting, kitchen and bathroom remodels, and working with contractors.
Outdoor and seasonal. Outdoor kitchens, yards and side spaces, and seasonal decorating.
Who we’re for
People who have already found the inspiration and now need the specifics. There is no shortage of beautiful photographs on the internet. There is a real shortage of pages that tell you which sage green, at what light reflectance value, against which countertop, in a north-facing room. That gap is what we try to fill. If you’re standing in a paint aisle, or measuring a room, or trying to work out whether your existing kitchen layout is worth keeping — that’s the moment we’re writing for.
Every guide starts with the question a reader is actually asking, and we try to answer it directly rather than circling it for eight hundred words first. Where we quote a figure, we link to where it came from. Where we recommend a paint colour, a material or a dimension, it comes from manufacturer
specifications, published industry research or established design standards — and we say which. Where sources disagree, we say that too, instead of picking whichever is tidier.
We use AI-assisted tools in our research and drafting workflow. We say so plainly because we’d rather you knew. Those tools don’t publish anything: every article is reviewed and edited by a person before it goes live, and we’re accountable for what appears under our name. Our Editorial Policy sets out exactly how this works.
We don’t claim first-hand experience we don’t have. And when something depends on your specific home — permits, structural work, electrics, plumbing, anything load-bearing — we say so and tell you to get a qualified professional, because that’s the honest answer rather than the engaging one.
We don’t invent expert quotes or attribute advice to unnamed “designers”. If we say a professional recommends something, we name them and link to them. We don’t publish statistics we can’t source. We don’t present our own opinions as reader testimonials. We don’t write a recommendation with no downsides. Anything that sounds perfect usually hasn’t been thought about properly.
What Makes Us Different
We don’t just follow trends—we curate ideas that are timeless and functional. Whether it’s furniture selection, lighting solutions, or decorative accents, we focus on practical style that fits real-life homes.
